NucMech2026: Interdisciplinary workshop on Nuclear Mechanotransduction
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is our pleasure to present NucMech2026, the first interdisciplinary Nuclear Mechanotransduction Workshop that will take place in Lyon (France), the 17th November, 2026.
Cells are naturally subjected to mechanical forces of different origins. It is now well established that cells sense mechanical signals, triggering downstream changes in gene expression and cytoskeletal rearrangements that are key to biological processes such as cell proliferation and migration.
In recent years, growing evidence has suggested that the nucleus itself may be directly involved in mechanotransduction. Although several models have been proposed, the specific mechanisms by which the nucleus senses and responds to mechanical signals remain unclear. A comprehensive understanding of nuclear mechanotransduction requires accounting for both the structure of the nuclear envelope and the organisation of chromatin, as well as their mechanical and biophysical properties.
In this one-day conference hosted by the GDRs ADN-Phys and AQV, we aim to bring together biologists and physicists to discuss experimental and theoretical approaches to understanding nuclear mechanotransduction, from the molecular scale of chromatin and condensates to the whole-nucleus scale.
Registration is free but mandatory (deadline: November 3rd 2026). Participants are invited to proposed contributions for talks.
Looking forward to seeing you in Lyon.
